Prociphilus erigeronensis

is a North American root aphid species.

Common names. None recognized.

Distribution. This aphid is restricted to the temperate regions of North America.

Host associations. It has a narrow host range, having been recorded from species of 4 plant families.

Economic importance. It is particularly important on Ambrosia, Aster, and Lactuca (Asteraceae), Agrotis, Poa, and Triticum (Poaceae), and Arachis, Phaseolus, and Trifolium (Fabaceae), but also attacks Crataegus (Rosaceae), and a variety of other ornamentals. It has not been implicated in the transmission of any plant virus.
